About us
Woodworking for the shop you actually have.
The Practical Woodshop is an independent beginner woodworking publication for people with limited space, basic tools and a real-world budget.
Why we exist
Too much woodworking advice begins with a fully equipped shop. We begin with the question a new builder is already asking: what can I do safely and usefully with the room, tools and money available now?
Our guides focus on clear decisions—what to build first, what a tool can and cannot do, how to plan a compact workspace, and how to evaluate plans and project costs before cutting material.
What we do not claim
- We do not invent hands-on tests or workshop experience.
- We do not publish fabricated testimonials, users or credentials.
- We do not treat a manufacturer claim as independent evidence.
- We do not present general guidance as structural engineering or local code approval.
